I vividly remember our homeroom teacher at Skiles discussing the Norman Invasion - specifically the Normans and Scots - when suddenly (along with a few chuckles) the focus of attention became Norman Dikelsky and me.
Was on the high jump team with Jesse. Daily practice routinely began with the entire track team taking a lap or two inside the field house. Always enjoyed Jesse joining us slowpokes at the back of the herd.
Carol lived around a block from me on the nw corner of Main and Brown. One summer (I think it was the summer of 1962) she hosted dance parties in her garage. "The Twist" and "Michael Row the Boat Ashore" were favorites. She loved horses. I remember watching "Bonanza" Sunday nights on the color tv in the living room with her parents. Haven't seen Carol since then. Always wondered what became of her.

Deb, Yes, thank you for posting this obit. I didn't know Scott personally, but he was a familiar name from my school days in Evanston. You are the glue that holds this group together.
Roger was a small scrappy kid who grew up on Dewey near Boltwood Park, just up the block from Beverly Cook. We were buddies at Skiles and ETHS until I quit high school to join the Army and we went our separate ways.
We reconnected briefly a few years later in 1974. I lived on Fargo near the lake in Rogers Park - Roger was my neighbor across the alley! At the time I was in the Air Force Reserve, Roger said he recently left the Navy.
As kids we played poker and board games with our buddies, climbed trees, shot bb guns, hung out on Mount Trashmore, smoked cigarettes in the attic of my parent's garage, swam in the pool (Roger was a good diver), got drunk on straight whiskey, flew u-control airplanes, played spin the bottle with girl friends, blew up balsa models with fire crackers. All the usual stuff.
Long time ago, lotsa fond memories.
R.I.P. Roger

Was looking at old school pictures and realized Herbert Sobel and I were classmates at ETHS...and also Gale School in Chicago (3rd grade, probably 4th, and also 5th grade).
Third grade, standing beside each other in third row: Herb (4th from right w/bow tie), Scott (5th from right w/sweater).
Fifth grade: Herb (3rd row, standing 2nd from right), Scott bottom row, seated far left.
Still remember the time we went fishing with your dad...and how you turned green when he asked if you were smoking. :-D
Just curious: Are you the kid who lived down the block on Grey Avenue? Or, was your father Raymond Jones of AFTRA & SAG?
Even though my Tyros disappeared 46 years ago, I remember your entry:
The stork flew north
The stork flew south
And carried Scott in his mouth
When he found out he was a nut
He dropped him in the Miller's hut
Glad to know you're still horsing around!
